On a whim I asked Chloe the other day if she'd like her toenails painted. She agreed so we got out my bin of nail polish. Don't ask me why I have 23 bottles of nail polish when I only paint my toes once every 4 months or so (don't quote me on that 23, just an estimate).Chloe was delighted to be able to choose a polish color and she selected a silvery shiny blue. The wiggle worm of a girl sat unbelievably still as I painted her toes and kept saying "I see it! I see it!" in her primitive toddler-talking way.
Of course this is just one of many Chloe and mommy activities, but this was a special one to me. It reminds me that my little girl is growing up into a big girl too quickly for my liking. And that I need to grab on to these fun moments and enjoy them to the fullest.
Another blossoming tradition Chloe and I share is eating popcorn while watching a movie together (more like part of a movie - I don't like her to watch more than 30 minutes at a time). We only do this rarely, maybe once every two months, so it's become a special ritual for us. Chloe takes her designated popcorn bowl and we both cuddle up together on the chair. Tonight we viewed the beginning of Curious George (way cute flick!) and we laughed together at Georgie's antics. When I turned it off, Chloe kept saying "sit, sit" and she climbed up on my lap to snuggle even though no movie was playing. It was a a precious mommy moment.

What precious little moments you have shared with her...how do you think she will do when your new little one will come home?? I bet she is going to try to be just like you...a very good mommy!!
This "mommy moment" just happend a few minutes ago...Victoria and Logan went to bed VERY early tonight because they were up very late last night so I crawled in bed around 9 and was just reading through blogs. A little while later I heard her start to cry...she had a bad dream so I crawled into bed with her and just laid there with her until she relaxed and fell back to sleep. If you know me you would know that this is very rare...we don't allow the kids to sleep with us in our bed and I never lay with them till they fall asleep. I just enjoyed laying next her, holding her hand and watching her. She is getting so big...maybe I had this "mommy moment" tonight because about 30 minutes earlier I was crying about her starting Kindergarten. :(
i love the toes! i did that with esther once and now every time i touch up my nails, she begs to join. she is a wiggle worm also, but will sit sooo still for toenail painting. i also like to watch her when we do bubbles, she calls them 'pop-pops'. she loves it when i play dolls with her and read books. she talks to me like i'm one of her friends, but i have no idea what she's saying even though she thinks she does!
Cute Toes. It's been awhile since I've painted either of the girls toes. You are inspiring me to have a special girly time with my girls.
Every day--almost, when Silas goes down for a nap, Sara and mommy have a "special activity." We color together, practice letters, play pre-school games on the computer, etc. We read a book together every day before nap. We are reading chapter books right and Sara loves it. Sara also enjoys having her toenails painted. We have done the family movie night with popcorn and every now and then Sara will ask, "can we do a special thing as a family like watch a movie and eat popcorn?" Our favorite thing to do together as a family is going on bikerides. We usually stop by a park and let the kids play for a while or go and get a jamba juice-(we are all addicted). I love having times to just relax and be a family.
Cute toes:). Almost every morning, Michael and I will cuddle on the couch and read a book or two while he wakes up. He isn't normally too much of a cuddle bug so I enjoy this mommy moment - one that is relaxed and unrushed. It is interesting how our children love spending time with us doing simple activities. Most of them don't cost any $ either - proof that showering children with expensive things can never take the place of spending quality and quantity time with them.
I love that picture of your toes! I just painted mine and my girls' toes cranberry red :) I thought of taking a picture of all of our feet in a circle and framing it above their toilet...hmmm...maybe I'll actually put my intentions to actions. We'll see.
How sweet. I think my favorite moments are when Olivia first wakes up. I go into her room and cuddle her while she blinks away the fog of sleepiness.
How fun to paint your little girlie's toenails. Luke used to want me to paint his sometimes. Now, he won't sit still to let me cut them, and they're full of dirt! I think one time I painted one of his fingernails with clear polish though - I thought that wouldn't hurt. :)
Hm - what special things to we do just us? We read a lot of books, when he's tired or upset (which is a few times each day) he wants me to "rocky" him. And he really likes to help me make things in the kitchen - he's actually quite good at stirring up eggs with a fork for scrambled eggs! Lately our "special" activity has been packing!
awe, that is so cute alicia. girls are so fun! kalynn always loved it when i would paint her toes... the brighter the better.
preston was always my helper in the kitchen, i will always cherish my memories of him helping me grind my coffee every morning.
i miss my babies. i miss having them involved in my every day tasks. i miss being their mommy.
Cute picture. BTW, I don't know if you read the comment I left as a response to yours on my blog, but NO I did not get a pedicure. I'm too cheap. I painted them myself - though it's getting harder to do to be sure.
