This is why I'm smitten

My Clive is a darling little peanut.  I'm fully aware of his charms over me.  I'm helpless when he speaks in his sweet little 3 year old voice and *explains* something to me. 

Like yesterday, we were eating lunch which included leftover peas. The conversation went something like this . . .

Chloe: "Mama, I'm your sweet pea, right?" 
Me: "Yes!  You're all my sweet peas." 
Clive: "Not me!  I'm a BIG pea.  See because I'm big and because I'm a pea.  Because I just ate a pea.  Like this, see?" (explained with accompanying gestures)

And when he SINGS he notches up the darling-ness to ridiculous heights.  Here's an example of him singing one of our favorite bedtime songs, If I Were a Butterfly. Lyrics altered by Clive.

Clive the Builder

Clive's little 2 1/2 year old voice is so scrumptiously cute I pretty much kiss and hug him all day long. Scratch that, I try to kiss and hug him all day long. He adeptly avoids my loving attempts by scampering away fast on his short little toothpick legs.

If there's anything cuter than Clive's voice, it's hearing that voice sing. Hear for yourself and prepare to be bombarded with adorableness!

I think Clive is a Bob the Builder's biggest fan. And I really don't mind. I like that Bob (like how I refer to a cartoon character as though I know him?) displays the process involved in construction. Since watching Bob dvds, Chloe often "makes a plan" as she plays. I also appreciate that Bob and his team work hard, work cooperatively and clean up their messes.

Another nice perk to watching Bob the Builder is that Chloe truly enjoys it right alongside Clive but at a different level. Not many dvds cross the gender and age lines that easily. I'm curious . . . does Bob the Builder mania infect your boys and/or girls?

Clive the comedic chatterbox

It's been WAY too long since I've posted a cutesy video of my progeny.

Overnight it seems Clive has become our household chatterbox. He's always talking to himself or identifying items to whoever will listen. And we are constantly asking him to speak quietly at the dinner table. Already he's trying to monopolize the dinner conversation!

As you can see from the video above (persevere through the cousin naming until the end), Clive thinks he's a comedian to boot. He does indeed know his sister's name. Though he said "back-hoe" long before ever attempting to say "Chloe".

What a darling character Clive is becoming! It's been so fun to hear him find his voice and see his personality blossom.

My Clivey-poo

My little Clive just reached the 9 month mark!

Here are some cute (albeit long) videos of his latest antics. I think he's going for a world record in being the youngest baby ever to walk. In my mommy book it's just not natural for a 9 month old baby to be walking yet. And this mommy is NOT ready.

My expert giggler

Check out my Clive giggling. He is inexpressibly cute!!!! And no, I am not a biased mother. He truly is the cutest baby ever.

I am astonished by how different Clive is from Chloe during the baby stage. She was a contented baby but not of the giggly smiley sort. She was a focused and intense kind of baby. It seems that in Clive is opposite from Chloe in every respect! Have any of you other moms-of-two-or-more seen that in your kiddos?

And how do I get Clive to chew on a teething toy and not his own tongue?!? Anyone have any ideas?

Can my baby really be doing all these things already?!?

In the blink of an eye my little Clive is no longer a newborn. He'll be four months old in just a few more days.

It's ironic that though I've been wanting Clive to get older so he would be more interactive now I'm sad to see it happening so quickly. Am the only one who feels like this baby stage goes by too fast?!?
