Here's a question for you: What happens to the hundreds of hats made for the losers of the superbowl? You know how they make up hats that say "XLI Superbowl Champions" for each team to wear just seconds after the game ends? I imagine there were hats made for the Bears in the unlikely event that they won; what happened to those caps? Do they get destroyed? Or sold on ebay for pennies?I didn't think I'd find an answer to this question by mere googling, but after 3 tries, I came up with this article link (technology is astounding!). Turns out the 288 shirts and hats made up for the losing Chicago Bears were donated to World Vision, an African relief organization . Those Bears are so kind to lose so their shirts could be donated to needy souls.

Thanks for the post. It's good to know that the NFL doesn't just waste the clothes but uses them to help others. Although, I wish I could get my hands on a 2007 Chicago Bears Champion T-Shirt :-)
Alicia - I got the biggest kick out of your article because when we were in Cameroon for a missions trip, we kept seeing these shirts that said Abibas instead of Adidas. They even had the logo on them, and apparently, someone had made a mistake with them so they were sent to Africa. Some people who had gotten a hold of them were actually selling them on the streets. I didn't see any sports championship shirts that were incorrect, but I can picture it in my head for sure. :-)

P.S. Yes, Kayla loves Elmo. I had been shopping for Elmo stuff for my nephew but hadn't even talked to Kayla about what I was looking at since she had never seen Sesame Street and I figured she wouldn't care. Two days later, we were at a store and she walks over and picks up a book and says "Melmo." Dan and I were shocked. She had been watching and listening -- (scary). From that day on, she has loved anything Elmo.

Thanks for your research, I have always, always wondered about that but never thought to look it up online. The Bears are such a stellar team to give up the Super Bowl to help needy individuals. How superb of them!
The Knapps in Papua, New Guinea said that they have seen something like these shirts in the past at the stores by them. Too funny!
