Yesterday Chloe received her 12-15 mos. shots at our local health department. She's usually a tough cookie and yesterday was no exception. Of course we both cried (as usual) when the needles pierced her chubby thighs (can you believe how deep they stick them?!?). But by the time we were leaving the clinic, she was only wimpering. An hour later she was her old self again, babbling and exploring.Wellllll, today was a different day altogether! Both Matt and I were feeling sick, nauseous, and sleepy. Chloe was a crab this afternoon and evening so we busted out the children's tylenol and put her to bed early. I'm guessing what happened was that the small doses of viruses contained in the vaccines spread to all of us. Has this happened to anyone else?

I take Audrey in for her first vaccines on Thursday (I can hardly believe she is already 2 months old). My pediatrician told me to come emotionally prepared. I'm not sure I'm ready for this, I know they gave her shots in the hospital but that was in the nursery, so I didn't see it. Sorry to hear you all are not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon.

I always cry when Chloe gets her shots; it's so hard to see her in pain! But I'm reassured that a few needle pricks will prevent lots of much more serious bouts of pain and sickness! Hang in there, you'll be fine after the initial needle sticking.
connor is usually a bit crabby after shots. sometimes he gets really sleepy though which is nice. i've never had strange reactions though, but i'm not surprised. i am, however, quite proud of myself. i haven't cried yet during connor's shots..or even when they took his blood....i find that amazing. :)
my doc gave me a tip and i do this everytime.....about 2 hours before his shots i give him some tylenol or motrin. it helps take the edge off and seems to keep him from any extra soreness. then i give him one more dose during the day. he has done really well with shots so far, but we are headed for his 12 mos. vaccine next thurs. fingers crossed. :)
I thought when they were small it was so painful to watch them get a shot, but when they are 2 & 4, I think it is worse. They know what is coming and that it is going to hurt like crazy!!!
Victoria was just at the doctors on Monday! I made Kevin go, because I just can't handle it AT ALL!!!
I agree with Christina. I have always given our kids tylenol before hand and then again through out the day! It usually helps. There is a lot of little bugs going around right now with the crazy weather, so maybe it didn't have anything to do with the vaccines. You never know though.
