As of today we are the owners of a new-to-us mini-van! (And also as of today, I can punctuate that statement with an honestly excited exclamation point!)Baby numero tres is due in April so we knew our teensy weensy VW Jetta wasn't going to cut it much longer. Hence we began the research into used mini-vans in our extremely limited price range.
I have never been a mini-van gal. I always envisioned our expanding family cruising around in a sleek black Saab or Volvo station wagon or a maybe a fuel-economic red Mazda5.
But alas, a mini-van was the best and most practical choice for our family. So, I must swallow my pride and embrace my new identity as a mini-van mama. :)
Which leads me to a question . . . How many of you drive mini-vans? If you're not a mini-van mama, what wheels do you drive?

We bought a mini van before we had kids - we had a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was totaled in an accident and we did not have enough moola for a new Jeep. I was embarrassed too, like it was an announcement that we were going to have a vanload of kids or something.
We. Love. It. Easy to get in & out of, and all the seats can be removed for hauling home renovation supplies, and plenty of room for a rowdy bunch of junior highers. Perfect.

But I do concede the fact that, at times, I do wish we had more cargo/kid/dog room. Since we would like to have another child or 2 someday (NOT in the near future, if God wills it!), we'll eventually have to go the van route.

Although if I had my choice, I would have a volvo station wagon - they are my favorite!
We have driven a van for the past several years. Once you get used the room, etc. you won't want to turn back. Maybe you can get the car of your choice whent the kids are on their own. :)

Definitely a mini-van...we wouldn't be able to afford anything else that we could all fit in. Plus I have no problem with the mini-van stereotype - call me crazy.
We don't have babies anymore, but I still find myself wishing for van. If we ever have the opportunity to purchase a van I will be all for it!!!

I am proudly a mini-van mama! We had a larger SUV and a smaller SUV when we had Eli and although the larger was pretty decent, we discovered soon that it just wasn't enough for traveling with Eli and a dog too! Now that we have 2 dogs and another baby on the way, I am SO glad we have the van. I LOVE my van and can't imagine not having it! It was the best thing we did.
We have a Toyota Surf here (kinda' like an older model Toyota Forerunner) because we never saw any mini vans for sale here when we were looking. Apparently no interest in exporting them although with the roads the way they are, I can understand they're not so sturdy and most probably aren't four wheel drive. I was very disappointed as I LOVED our mini van in the States -- of course we were on deputation and with just two kids, we traveled with the back seat out and had tons of room for all our stuff -- much more than our SUV now has. Then again, I would guess people would say I'm way too practical. We started driving it with only one child because someone hit our car and totaled it and had to get a replacement. Weren't "ready" for a mini van for gas mileage but knew eventually we would need one for deputation so we looked on Ebay and found one for $3500 (compared to the crazy price we had to pay for an imported vehicle here) that was in good condition (a Dodge but it actually drove well for us). Great memories! I would love to have a mini van here. So glad God provided for a new vehicle.
No kiddos now & not anytime soon so I happily buzz around in my corolla sport. But Mike & I have discussed the minivan thing & neither of us want one (at this point). We are hoping that if we have kids we will just grow into a larger car or possibly my dream car which would be a hybrid Escape. I used to drive a big Explorer & I miss those days :-) Congrats on your minivan & thank the Lord for His provision1
