We celebrated with dinner out at a local restaurant (this also served as my belated mother's day gift). Now Matt transitions into hard-core study mode for his next test; his medieval reading exam is coming up in just 10 short days.
Matt hopes to study about 6 hours a day in preparation for the medieval reading exam. Though this is going to be a rough period, I am so thankful we're getting closer and closer to Matt's dissertation.
What a lovable brainiac!

Oh my goodness! I bet his head hurt after that one! You must be so proud! You're almost done. The short term pain will be well worth the long term gain! So how many languages is Chloe going to be able to speak? =) He! He! The dinner sounded nice. Happy Belated Mother's Day!
PS - That's an adorable picture of Chloe and her Daddy! Put that one on a card for Father's Day!
Hooray for Matt! And I'm so glad to hear about Beth's positive prognosis. We've been praying and will keep praying!
Now take some time to RELAX!
I'm so glad you're back! I missed you! I am also glad I don't have to do all that Matt is doing. Wow! Good thing he's a smarty pants.
i bet you feel like you have three more tests to go too :) it's great to celebrate each step on the way to the end. when does he start his work on his dissertation?
Janelle: Yup, I'm exceedingly proud of him! I'll be happy if Chloe can speak English for starters. :) Most words are still indistinguishable!
Karen: When all my laundry's put away, then I'll really feel better about being home! We're relaxing a bit tonight with a movie (the illusionist) and some popcorn. Ahhhhhhh.
Kelly: I'm glad to be back too! I missed blogging and keeping up with everyone. How goes the pregnancy?
Shannon: Totally, I'm not thinking about those next 3 tests yet though. Trying to focus on getting things back in order here. Matt will hopefully start on his dissertation after these tests are all done . . . we're thinking October 2007 or thereabouts.
This is in response to your comment on my post so it's not going to really make sense in the context of your post.
Wow -- I haven't been called tiny in a long time -- probably since pre-Kayla days! Your comment came at a very encouraging time because I was just told recently that I had gained twice as much weight as I was supposed to by this time. I've already gained 10 pounds at 16 weeks and apparently I'm supposed to have only gained 5 (I'm gaining all over this time just like I did with Kayla not just in the belly). I told the nutritionist (I guess that was his title) it was because I had been eating every three hours when I had the morning sickness as it helped take the edge off to not have an empty stomach, and he said something about my weight gain should slow down now then. GRRRR... I guess I should be thankful that he wants me to be healthy.
I was kinda' worried about Kayla's belly too. She's active, and she doesn't eat a lot of sweets but her belly remains... her pediatrician wasn't worried at all and said it would go away in time so that made me feel better. Like you mentioned, I don't notice her little friends being shaped like her.
If you would, could you pass on my heartfelt congrats to Matt for pressing ever-forward in this quest. I've lost his email, having this past year left UT-PA back in the Rio Grande Valley for a teaching spot at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. And I think I left in the middle of a good email conversation with him. Also, our love to Sam, Beth and the kids. My wife, boys and I will continue praying for them. Thanks for the updates.
