ee mug image at left says it all for me. Lately, I'm not fully awake until I've had a cup or three of java to jump-start my eyelids. (Check out more fun and unique coffee mugs here.)Thankfully, my coffee necessity is not quite so dire lately since Solomon decided to start sleeping through the night. I'm almost afraid to post that glorious milestone lest I jinx the utter deliciousness of uninterrupted rest. But even as I type this I remember the truer-than-true baby adage, "It's just a phase." Even Solly's sleeping 9 hours straight could be a phase. So, I thank God for every night regardless of the sleep count.
I truly rely on my daily jolt of coffee to get me moving in the morning and to keep me moving through my daily afternoon slump. When Solly wasn't sleeping well I didn't even bother counting how many coffee cups I chugged. It was probably around 4-6 cups of joe a day. Yikes! Not good.
Now that Solomon's improving in the sleep department, I need to start weaning myself down to a healthier amount of coffee consumption. I'm aiming for 1-2 fully caffeinated cups in the morning and 1-2 half-caf cups in the afternoon.

Alicia, I just voted in your poll - neat idea!
However, I felt like I should clarify my answer :-) I had to mostly give up caffeine b/c it was making me feel AWFUL. All shaky & weak & gross. At work when I make the coffee every morning I have to make a mix, 3/4 decaf because the guys I work with won't drink decaf. Anyway, I usually chug about 4 mugs over the course of a morning which roughly equates to one cup I guess.
Do you think I get too caught up in details? :-)
I know what you mean though; I've been a little convicted lately about indulging in too much of a good/harmless thing. Whether it's coffee/chocolate/diet soda or something not food related, moderation should be key, right? Thanks for posting; I know where you are coming from!
I actually don't drink caffeine. I haven't had caffeine in years! Guess I've gotten used to having no sleep :-)
I love coffee...but drink it decaf. Caffeine makes me feel crazy inside. Tom and I found out what the best decaf coffee is from consumer reports. They rated Eight O'Clock Decaf Coffee as one of the best. It has great flavor and is affordable too.
I voted for 1-2 cups but like your other readers, it's most often decaf, although lately I've been doing a little more caffeine than usual, and it's doing me in - I think it makes me more tired in the long run, and I need to switch back and stay back. :-)
i rarely drink coffee, but there are times that i know if i don't get a diet coke quickly someone will lose an appendage. :) when it's cold i do enjoy coffee, but it's gotta be iced in the summer.
I love iced coffee in the summer and a hot cup of coffee in the winter! :) I only have one cup a morning and that's it. I can't do more than that because I feel like I will climb the walls if I get to much caffeine in my system. One cup is just plenty for me. :)
Once in awhile, in the evenings I will brew a cup of decaf just becuase I need something warm.
I'll admit I have never acquired the coffee taste. :) Love the smell, though! I'm a tea girl--usually herbal teas, but sometimes I like that jolt of caffeine with regular tea. We make it iced a lot in the summer. Tea or hot chocolate (homemade) is my hot drink of choice in the winter . . . and one of my favorite things about winter, actually--curling up with a good book and a mug of something yummy. :)
