. . . the day when Chloe would learn the most annoying children's song ever. Yup. Last week she learned the dreaded Father Abraham in her Sunday school class. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was only a matter of time I suppose. I always hated doing Father Abraham with little kids because it's a song that has the potential to never end. And of course they get riled up from moving and shaking all their little body parts while singing.

Okay, I have two: "This is the song that never ends. It just goes on and on my friends. Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was . . ." And, secondly, "I love you. You love me. We're a happy family."--from Barney. Thankfully, neither one of my girls sing either of these songs!
Ha! I have a bunch of kids cd's with songs and I ALWAYS skip Father Abraham when it comes on! HA! I'm right there with you on this one!

Father Abraham gets my vote, too. I dislike that one a LOT.
We teach the kids at our church "Making Melody" which is a fun motions song that gets them all riled up but at least it makes a little more sense theologically speaking - based on Eph. 5:19. :-)

Olivia has a Bible Songs video in which the kids wear weird headdress-type things and sing Father Abraham. She hates that song--is scared of it, actually. Bless her.
THis is definately one of my least favorite songs as well I'll stick with head, sholders, knees and toes - its at least educational as well as moving
Let's put it this way. I would NOT have gone out of my way to teach this song in any of my classes. I won't be teaching Michael this one either and plan to keep it that way until the inevitable happens.

Kayla has a Cedarmont Kids DVD that has been great for helping her learn a lot of Bible songs, but one of them has some on it that make me want to fast forward them. One is Father Abraham and another is Climb, Climb Up Sunshine Mountain. I can't remember any of the others right now. Dan especially can't stand Climb, Climb Up Sunshine Mountain. The funny thing is that for awhile she would sing it every time she would climb the stairs up to our apartment. Coming from her mouth, we thought it was cute, but we were glad when that phase passed too.
