Spring is such a lovely time of year. The anticipation of new flowers, the promise of warmer weather, and the air is atwitter with chirping birds. Ah. And then of course there's the arrival of cadbury creme eggs to the Easter candy aisle. :)I certainly have my candy preferences (york peppermint patties and lindor hazelnut truffles in case you were wondering). But I'm not one that MUST have a particular candy as a treat or reward.
Not so with cadbury creme eggs. Maybe it's their limited availability or their unique, albeit weird, egg-like colors inside. I usually pick up a few around Easter and savor them when I need a special pick-me-up.
Imagine my consumer surprise when I searched the pastel Easter shelves at Drug Mart and couldn't find cadbury creme eggs! Mind you, there are lots of look-alike cadbury creme eggs on the market these days. Cadbury caramel eggs, reese's eggs, snickers' eggs . . . you name it, it's an egg. I couldn't believe the creme eggs would be missing so I kept searching.
Lo, and behold, as of this year, the greedy cadbury company no longer sells creme eggs individually. Now you have to buy them in a package of THREE and the package costs more than two dollars?!? C'mon! Our economy is in shambles here!
I feel like I'm on an episode of Seinfeld ranting about something so silly . . . but it's really gotten under my skin. So, I'm boycotting this spring. No money-grubbing candy company will get my loose change! :)
Maybe I'm just getting more opinionated as I age . . . I almost honked in disapproval at some jaywalking teenagers yesterday. I don't mind that they jaywalked but what seriously annoyed me was that they saw me driving and still they leisurely crossed the road. Hoodlums. :)

Apparently people have no fear of moving vehicles anymore- it drives me crazy!!!
I think I'm still going to buy the 3 pack. They really are a must-have for the season.
We can still buy them individually here - and last week they were .39 cents each! But I avoid them like the plague. :-) It must be that center...EW!!
We can still get them individually here too! I can't stand them, but Vince loves them, so I indulge him and get them for him. I like the plain chocolate cadbury eggs (little ones). Those are my weakness!!!
The Cadbury eggs are my favorite! The mini ones are delicious too;). I'm trying to cut back on my junk food but I may have to splurge on a Cadbury egg or three this spring. You'll have to shop on the Monday after Easter and snag some deals on the candy.
I meant to comment on your "mom post" a few days ago. If any mom says that she has never felt that way, she is not living in reality or has the perfect child(ren). I hope that your energy has returned. ;)
You got a big smile out of me! So funny but I so understand where you were coming from. The other day I found myself very opinionated against the customs "department" here. Unfortunately, I can't boycott them unless we decide not to pick up the packages that the grandmas so lovingly sent us. How can they get away with charging so much to pick up a package that's not even commercial -- we're not selling any of that stuff. :-) I definitely had my own conspiracy theory going.
And about people not watching out for cars -- that's exactly why I haven't driven yet here! It's even worse here because there are so many more walkers/people on the curbside in comparison to the amount who are in cars. A missionary the other day hit a lady who walked right out in front of his truck without even a glance -- fortunately, she was okay after her hospital visit-- so scary!
I gasped in horror b/c at first I thought you were going to say they're not selling the at all.
I think I'm going to have to try to forgo a Cadbury egg this year b/c I've made serious progress in taming my sweet tooth and don't want to regress. :) I do love those eggs though! Chris and I became lovers of all Cadbury chocolate after our trip to Scotland - Hershey's doesn't cut it AT ALL anymore. I like getting a Cadbury bar with almonds when I see them. :)
