Relying on Dunkin' Donuts

Sleep is eluding me. For the past three consecutive nights I've been incredibly wakeful even though I'm completely exhausted and longing for rest.

Today and tomorrow are both necessarily busy days for us so there are no naps on the horizon for me. Sigh.

Driving around with the kiddos this morning to run some errands and visit a park, I found myself dizzy and in need of some serious caffeine. I'm afraid I've gone well beyond the recommended caffeine intake limit for pregnant women today.

When I'm a zombie like this, coffee and sugar are my mainstays. I ate through an entire nutella jar all by myself in a record-breaking 4 days. What do you run to when you need a pick-me-up?

Caffeine! And how!! I never feel guilty about it in my pregnancies either. All of my kids are fine. And I guarantee you that my mom drank a couple of pots of coffee (at least!) a day when she was pregnant with me.
The other thing I've found with this pregnancy is salsa perks me up. I don't know if it's because it's spicy or what, but I get a good pick up from that.
Hang on! All this sleepless-ness is getting you ready for baby. You'll be feeling yourself again soon!

Dianna: Really, salsa? Yikes. Just the thought of eating salsa gives me thoughts of heartburn. The last few weeks I've been struggling with acid reflux so I've been staying away from all things spicy. Glad it works for you though! I'm sure that's much better for you than all the chocolate I've been eating lately! :)

I have to say I'm a little peeved that you turn to D & D. Hello, STARBUCKS!!!
Just kidding - Coke is my caffeine of choice when I need a pick me up!

Suzanne: Sorry, don't take my DD loyalty personally! :) I do enjoy a good starbucks mocha once in awhile. But starbucks regular brew is just way too strong for my delicate tastebuds. :)

I'm with you Alicia, DD every time over Starbucks! I'm sorry you are having such a hard time getting the rest you need. I can't do caffeine; it give me acid reflux problems & makes me shake inside. It's a bad feeling. So to get myself pumped up I usually have to get up & move around. And chew gum. I don't have any good tricks. That's why I'm a zombie at my desk many work days :-)
